Kill Tony #746 - episode notes
Adam Ray and Ian Edwards join Tony for a night of returning comics, improvised scenes and an unexpected hosting swap. Here are some details worth another look:
1. 4:33 - The advertised last Dr. Phil Live becomes a farewell joke before the bucket even starts: the panel compares its returns to the McRib. It sets up another Dr. Phil promo callback later in the night, rather than proving this was a final-ever performance.
2. 10:35 - Martin Phillips's patterned shirt becomes a Magic Eye-style sailboat joke, followed by a safari-principal comparison. His explanation that clothes arrive through a styling service gives the visual roast a surprisingly practical answer.
3. 12:15 - Martin's processing noises become a dial-up-internet impression. A later misunderstanding about videos being sent to him turns into the running eating-sand joke; the correction matters because he is not describing actually eating sand.
4. 40:00 - Michael Hines says the big joke book he received previously is full. Tony gives him a replacement, a small on-stage detail that connects the return visit to writing new material.
5. 40:38 - Big Stew reverses his language-app premise. After describing Spanish that sounds out of place, he imagines an English learner arriving with a very British accent. The accent switch is the joke, not a verified claim about the app's courses.
6. 41:50 - Big Stew clarifies his experience as roughly a year and a half added together: a few months in 2015, a few in 2019, and a consistent run since March at recording. That preserves the stop-start timeline rather than turning it into a continuous decade of comedy.
7. 46:39 - Big Stew's work making flags gives Redban a Mario soundboard opening. The fast sound cue turns a description of a custom design into a little production joke.
8. 37:08 and 51:23 - The imaginary unframed movie posters become a recurring improv detail. Goonies 2 in Michael's scene becomes Jurassic Park 9 in Big Stew's. These are invented scene decorations, not actual sequel announcements.
9. 1:01:37 - Adam recalls Taylor opening for him recently in Hermosa Beach and San Diego, and praises both sets. Those are two shows remembered by Adam in the episode, not an independently audited lifetime total. Ian also connects Taylor's comedy with his work as an artist.
10. 1:19:05 - Dedrick looks forward to playing Atlanta's Fox Theater that week, calling it one of his dream venues. At 1:21:23, the panel recalls his account of 39 signups before getting called. The signup figure is their source recollection, and the hometown show is still a future plan at this recording.
11. 1:32:09 - Brian Holtzman arrives during Pauly Shore's cameo and jokingly casts himself as Pauly's minder. Tony then asks Brian to do a set, so the apology/cameo and Holtzman's actual standup are separate parts of the interruption. Pauly explicitly retracts his earlier claim that he had been banned.
12. 1:42:46 - Sebastian says he does not have a handle, meaning an Instagram handle. Tony hears a handle on the craft. At 1:43:47, Tony also challenges the idea that a Kill Tony appearance is only gambling: prepare the material and try it at open mics first.
13. 1:47:03 - Tony hands the chair to Adam, who hosts in a Tony impression and introduces Brandon. When the real Tony returns, the two versions briefly share the stage. The impression's debut introduction is corrected later by Tony acknowledging Brandon has been on before.
14. 1:52:25 - Brandon describes using virtual-reality comedy to keep practising when getting out to open mics is difficult. His Spider-Verse avatar adds a visual punchline. At 1:54:28, Adam gets him to perform an actual additional joke, Only Dads, rather than leaving the unfinished minute as the last word.
15. 2:16:39 - William's rug-shopping story becomes a measurement problem: he says his small tape measure means making repeated marks across the floor. The interview turns an ordinary household project into a long comic process. Earlier, Adam praises William for committing and powering through a difficult audience, around2:10:18.
Phrase watch: the native full-source automatic-text scan finds 10 matches for "I love it" and 1 for "absolutely incredible" across all voices. These are caption-text matches, not Tony-only or independently audio-verified spoken totals. Censored or missing text can hide speech.

Names and times follow the source captions, with first introductions distinguished from minute starts. The source's Big Stew is also a separate Stuart Watson entry in the stored lineup; this comment does not merge those records. Captions vary on Taylor, Muhammad, Owen and Brandon's surnames, so shorter supported names are used. The stored Pauly, Brandon and William times point to different source passages; the markers above use their actual source entrances. Jokes, personal recollections and announced future gigs are distinguished from verified history, and private medical, family and crime claims are not presented as facts.
Which callback landed best: the imaginary sequel posters or Adam taking over as Tony?
