KILL TONY #711 - episode notes
Andrew Schulz and Deric Poston join a night with Ari Matti opening, William Montgomery closing, and Joel Jimenez returning to the drums. A chef’s outfit, a hammock and an unused puzzle table all become material.
Discoveries and details
1. 04:39 - Andrew and Deric arrive together. Tony calls this Andrew’s first return since Madison Square Garden; that is the introduction’s recollection, not a complete appearance count. The specials and release dates mentioned here are episode-time promos.
2. 20:06 - Jovan Afzali is a line cook, and the panel notices he has arrived in chef’s pants. He explains that he wore them to an interview, complete with Crocs. He says he staged at a new restaurant the previous day and starts that week, rather than already having worked a long stretch there. Dress for the job you want becomes the punchline. His imaginary girlfriend, canoe and internship are explicitly fictional.
3. 22:24 - Jovan says he likes going dancing, rather than claiming to be a professional dancer. A request for Indian trap music leads to a short demonstration at 23:00. His joke about doing that for 45 minutes is not the length of the performance captured here.
4. 29:52 - Sammy Blumenthal calls this her second appearance and explains the difference between recording in December and seeing an episode released in January. Tony wanted the recording date; she was explaining the wait. This is her recollection, not an independently audited appearance ordinal or universal release schedule.
5. 33:11 - Sammy reveals the real name of her dog, Topher, after the fictional name in her minute. She says she wanted a tattoo of him before he died so she could show it to him. The dog is alive in her account; the panel’s response is to wonder whether he knows what he is looking at. The later private relationship interview is not used here as verified biography or a health statistic.
6. 49:11 - Will Hunsinger describes aerospace work and earlier jobs involving jet engines. He asks not to disclose the current employer’s details. He also distinguishes training in jiu-jitsu from being a fighter, and describes guitar as a hobby. He does not perform a guitar piece in this episode.
7. 58:45 - Joel Jimenez is welcomed back as a visiting drummer, bringing the older band dynamic into the room with Jetski Jessie Johnson. The later explanation is that Michael Gonzalez is watching from an upper balcony. He returns to play the show out at 2:15:33, so the replacement jokes are not a firing or announcement of a permanent band change.
8. 1:01:42 - Bryant Smith’s trip across the street becomes its own bit. An initial claim about running gets narrowed to lightly jogging to keep up with Dusty’s fast walk. Tony explicitly says people are not required to sprint. At 1:04:23, a short yard-karate demonstration gets slow romantic backing music, prompting a request for a more suitable soundtrack. This is a comic demonstration, not exercise advice.
9. 1:10:01 - Jetski finds leave her on read in the discussion of a text-message breakup. The room’s reaction turns it into another showcase for her timing. The surrounding private relationship allegations and medical claims are not accepted as facts here.
10. 1:20:14 - Cam Patterson narrows the Canada conversation to the two places he has visited, Vancouver and Edmonton. That explains why his personal map of the country is much smaller than the panel’s question. His answer places this particular story in Vancouver; the surrounding roasts do not establish anyone’s identity or an actual crime.
11. 1:24:45 - Matt Gonzalez says he is a mechanical designer who makes desks. The panel singles out his pickleball premise and suggests expanding the idea of people inventing another sport once the existing one gets competitive. That is joke-development feedback, not a verified history of who plays particular sports.
12. 1:25:41 - Matt says a baseball spectator recognized him by calling him hammock. The sleeping arrangement is inside, in its own room, and chosen by him; it is not a shared hammock with his grandfather. Net loss, swingers, low-hanging fruit and full swing become a relay of puns. Redban’s Secret Show invitation at 1:31:51 is a future spot, not another completed set in this recording.
13. 1:32:24 - Tony connects Michael, Matt and the next bucket pull, Peter Gonzalez, by surname. It is a running name coincidence, not a claim that the three are related. Michael is the drummer already introduced, rather than a third stand-up performer named Gonzalez.
14. 1:34:27 - Andrew encourages Peter’s energy even while acknowledging that the jokes are still developing. He points out the crowd laughing when Peter moved casually past a missed joke. The advice returns at 1:42:30: talk about yourself and what you are going through. Tony’s specific edit is to retire the Alamo joke. The paper-sales roleplay at 1:37:01 gives Peter a second, improvised challenge.
15. 1:45:34 - Tyler describes taking a phone call warning that Dave Portnoy was coming to the pizzeria where he works. He explicitly says he did not make that pizza. His quoted 7.4 rating is his recollection, not a rating verified here. The later negative-review readout also ends with an important question: are they looking at the right Romeo’s? Do not treat those read-aloud complaints as established facts about his employer. The overall page rating is corrected aloud too, from the initial reading to 4.3 from 99 reviews; it is not a verified current rating.
16. 1:56:00 - Vinnie explains the unfinished ending: he knew he was near the minute, debated whether to begin another joke, and then rushed to fit it in. It is a useful performance detail about choosing an ending, rather than proof of an exact measured duration or a lack of material. The short attempted continuation is indexed below.
17. 2:09:02 - William corrects the Cleveland venue: Tony says Hilarities, while William says the Funny Bone, formerly an Improv. Later he describes buying a dedicated puzzle table for Christmas and then stopping the hobby. The table remains unused behind a door in his account. The rowing discussion ends in an I ain’t ever going to stop callback, not a completed Atlantic crossing or a fitness recommendation.
18. Across the complete stored automatic captions, “I love it” has 5 text matches and “absolutely incredible” has 4. These count all voices and opening/advertising material, not Tony alone. They are literal automatic-text matches, not independently checked spoken totals; censored omissions can interrupt a match.
